Can Millen Make The Right Choice?

Posted by: Beautiful Dreamer

With the NFL draft just a few months away I was wondering what Matt Millen might do this year to piss me off even more then in the past. So I have come up with a few situations in the draft and my prediction how Millen will handle it.

1) Baltimore takes Kenny Phillips the bad ass safety from Miami (cause they need no offensive help), leaving the door open for the Lions to take 6'5" Limas Sweed, the stud WR from Texas. We all know Millen cant pass up a sure thing.

2) The Bears make the biggest mistake of the franchise by passing on Andre Woodson (QB Kentucky). And one pick later the Lions draft Limas Sweed, forcing many fans in Detroit to start saying....New England Who?

3) Denver Broncos take Limas Sweed to compliment Brandon Marshall. The Lions have no choice but to take Desean Jackson the speedy WR from Cal to ensure that winning 10 games next year is a for sure thing.

4) Detroit trades the 15th pick and Roy Williams to Miami for the number 1 pick. Detroit does the obvious and drafts Limas Sweed to guarantee themselves a future hall of famer.

We all know that Millen will find a way to anger us more then he has in the past, so be prepared to see many great players taken after the 15th pick. Players like Oregon RB Jonathon Stewart, Kansas CB Aqib Talib, Illinois RB Rashard Mendenhall, and Florida DE Derrick Harvey. At least 2 of those players will be available to Millen when it's his turn to choose, but those are key needs for us!! No, that's not how we draft. So everyone welcome the newest member of the Detroit Lions.......Limas Sweed.

How To Tear Up Any Ohio Sports Fan With Eaze

Its no secret I like to post on the freep.com from time to time. Well yesterday a poster by the name of CLE23 an Ohio fan came on and poster this:

by the way,
the pistons are just awful this year. you guys will never beat Lebron James and the Cavs again. First, this dump of a basketball team called the knicks ran it up on you losers. then you guys lose to the magic and give up 102 points. I guess the pistons dont want to play defense anymore. oh well, it wouldnt matter anyways. Lebron torched the pistons in game 5 and could do it at will anytime he wants. Remember that game losers? it's a proven fact.

pistons are losers.

Deeeeeeettttttrrrrrrrroooooooiiiiiiiiittttttttttt bbbbbaaaaaassssssskkkkkkkkkeeeeeeeeetttttttttbbbbbbbaaaaaaaaaaalllllllll

then he posted this:

Is it true that Mike Hart is eating at a homeless shelter? Boy, i guess a michigan education will only get you as far as the boosters are willing to pay.

Well being the Detroit fan that I am, I wasn't going to let this troll get over on us. I came at him hard and came back with this post:

CLE23,

I've never been on any site having to do with Ohio sports team and posted so I guess you must be worried or care a lot about our teams, thanks. Now lets review the past for the Ohio sports teams shall we -

Indians blow the series to the Red Sox

Clevland gets swept in the finals

OSU gets beat a second straight time and no big ten team may ever be invited to the championship game again.

The Browns get edged out of the playoffs after the Titans beat a second string Colts team that had all of its starters on the bench.

King Lebron will also be in New York when he is ready to leave the "mistake by the lake". Wasn't he wearing a Yankee cap in the playoffs??

Yeah you've made it to the big games and gotten your ass handed to you each time. Real great. At least we have a few championships in pro sports over the last 30 years or so, while you can only point to one lonely NCAA National Title.

To top it all off your housing market is probably the worst in the nation after being scammed by lenders. Your property value has falling even more than that of Michigan, ouch!!!

I would shoot myself if I grew up in Ohio after the way your year went.

Never saw another post from him after that. If you see another Ohio fan trying to put down Michigan and its sports teams just point out the facts that they are the best choke artist in sports history and they will leave you alone. Enough said.

UPDATE: Almost forgot to give Ohio some more credit for being the king of second. Last year the OSU basketball team took runner up to the Florida Gators and that douche bag Joakim Noah. Then Greg and Mike Jr. went off to the NBA and OSU went back to the mediocre team it has always been.

Whats Up With The Pistons?

I'm not to worried about the recent skid the pistons have been on ever since their loss to the Celtics a few weeks back. I figured I would put up a few videos that any Detroit fan would appreciate and get fired up about.

The first one is an introduction of the bad boys back in the day. The second video is a mix of Bill Laimbeer the original "Bad Boy". Maybe if the pistons start getting angry and playing at the level of intensity Laimbeer brought, we can win it all this year. The last video is a mix of the championship run in 2004, the music is NSFW just in case. Hope you enjoy.

Here is the video tribute to the bad boy himself Bill Laimbeer. If you don't watch the whole video at least go the 1:48 mark, best part of the whole video.

Remember that the music to the below video is NSFW.

Poll Results for Favorite Detroit Team

Thanks to everyone who got on Joe Cullen Drive-Bye and voted for your favorite Detroit team. Here are the results from the 51 most knowledgable sports fans in the WORLD!!!!

Red Wings - 16 votes (31%)
Lions - 12 votes (23%)
Tigers - 17 votes (33%)
Pistons - 6 votes (11%)

I was suprised in how many people voted for the wings and glad to see it. In the end the winner was the Tigers who may have one of the best lineups in the history of baseball. Each team got a lot of votes and it just goes to show that Michigan is one of the best sports states and will support any team that plays here (just look at the Lions). Hopefully a few of these teams will also be able to bring home a championship as well this year.

This Is Not A Funny Video!!

Here is a video of a lady at a coffee shop throwing a fit. I've never really used coffee shops for the internet and hung out at them, but if this is what they are like I may have to start going. The best part about the whole thing is that she yells racist comments and then says its in the name of Jesus. I guess the Jesus she knows is a bigot.

5 Great Hockey Goals

These are some of my favorite hockey goals of all-time. Let me know other ones that you think were great as well and I will add them.

5. Rick Nash - Just happened this week and probaly had the most shoulder shakes and dikes of any goal I've ever seen.

4. Bobby Orr - I couldn't just pick one goal for Orr and had to post this video of some of his best goals he ever had. He was a player before his time.

3. Steve Yzerman - I'm biased to this goal. No Detroit fan will ever forget the overtime winner from the blue line in a game seven. This is why he was known as "The Captain".

2. Alex Ovechkin - He is still yong and will have many more goals throughout his career, but it will be hard to top this diamond.

1. Mike Legg, University of Michigan - If their was an And 1 league for hockey this is the move that they would all try.

Here is one more video highlight of other great goals mixed together.

If The U.S. Government Cared About Other Issues As Much As Steriods, They Might Actually Get Something Done

We can all breath a big sigh of relief, the U.S. Government is cracking down on steroids, again. I'm so glad that they have taken tax payers money and the governments time to bring this epidemic to it's knees. I mean why spend time on important issues that ACTUALLY effect the daily lives of the average American? Don't go and look at the lesser problems in this country like drugs (heroin, cocaine, meth, etc.), health-care, the falling dollar, inflation concerns, rising energy cost, dependence on oil, foreign affairs, immigration, terrorism, AIDS, Cancer, the housing fallout, securing the borders of our country, or the outsourcing of the thousands of jobs in this country. Take a back seat you guys, the government has to have integrity for the game of baseball before we can take on any of those minor issues. It just makes sense.

How much money has been put into the fight against steroids? It has been rumored that the MLB spent nearly 20 million to get the great Mitchell Report. As for the taxpayer and how much of their money has been spent on the war on steroids, the answer is a little more vague. Citing an article through yahoo.com (Click here for it) this was the best answer I could come up with from the article:

Government officials said they could not estimate how much the steroid initiatives have cost, but the efforts can be measured beyond anecdotal evidence. Between 2001 and 2006, the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) has more than quadrupled the number of man hours devoted to steroids cases, and the figure for the fiscal year of 2006 is on pace to approach 80,000 man hours, DEA figures show. This year the DEA has initiated 138 steroids cases, more than double the number initiated in 2001, and the largest steroids bust in U.S. history.

So knowing about how great the government is at budgeting I'm sure that it reaches it into the many millions. Let alone the time that we pay our elected officials to talk about this issue on capital hill while on the tax payers dime.

The best part about the whole thing is that it took all of these millions of dollars to come to the conclusion of what everyone knew, even you Washington (you don't get a pass for this either). Steroids and HGH (which is legal because our government says so) were/are widely being used throughout sports especially in baseball. Lead by a buffoon of a commissioner who has turned a blind eye at the whole ordeal, along with owners, until it was on the cover of every newspaper and Washington was screaming because so (gotta get in on the hot button topic you know).

They sit there and go after Selig and former players like they had killed thousands of people or committed espionage, with there chins held so high like they didn't have a hand in it. Maybe if you looked closer at prescription drug regulations and our borders that would help to dwindle the use of steroids? No it is all baseballs fault for this, pathetic you are there to sit and act like you are not just as much at fault for this. Then you even insult the American public more by using their money to go after it all. If you would've been doing your job and working on issues TOGETHER that truly do affect our country this may have been a smaller problem than it has become, if it really is this big problem that you think it is.

I don't mean to dwindle any families who have been hurt by the use of steroids or lost a loved one do to the abuse of the drug or the long term side effects of it. Steroids are bad and our children should not look up to sports stars who have become so by cheating others who have played by the rules only to be beaten out by a cheater. Compared to the bigger issues that our country is dealing with right now at a time of war, steroids are at the bottom of the totem pole.

Just think what the millions of dollars spent on what everyone already knew could have been used for. What about the true heroes of our country who've comeback to the states only to be provided sub par health care? I'm sure 20 millions dollars could help them out. Don't you think thatthe money would've been better used on a solider who has lost an arm, fellow solider, or been forever emotionally scarred by fighting for the privileges we have in this great country? Maybe that is not what you would've used the money on, I don't know. I just want you to ask yourself what you would've used all this time and money on, because I guarantee steroids will not be your first choice.

You have dropped the ball once again Washington. I love this country and everything it stands for, but I'm dissapointed and sadden that our government has become so pathetic and stagnet against the real issues our country faces. At least you got your tv time, right?

Michigans New Strength and Training Coach

I have found a video through si.com of the new Michigan strength and trainging coach, Mike Barwis. This guy is intense to say the least and he may even been on speed while he gave this interview. I can only imagine how much faster Michigan players will be after this guy gets on their ass!

Michigan Commitments

Hope everyone has had a great weekend watching the NFL playoffs and the Pistons winning. The Red Wings let us down last night, but they were playing the second best team in hockey and they didn’t look like themselves. Everyone has a bad game here and there and we all know that the Wings will be in the playoffs and that’s when it will matter, so don’t get down on them. The Pistons play tonight against the Knicks, so you can add another W to their record.

For this post I decided to put up the commitments from all the top rated players that should (never know these days) end up in Ann Arbor this year. Everyone knows about Sam McGuffie and I figured that we should get a little insight on the other guys who will be wearing the block M. I have also included a link to each player with a video or other information if I wasn’t able to get the video. Hopefully these guys can do what the last class wasn’t able to and bring down OSU this year.

Sam McGuffie – We all know who he is and here is a mix of some of his great runs he has had. Click Here

Darryl Stonum - He is a WR out of Texas who has a 4.4 40, he is also rated 43 on rivals.com. Couldn't get a video, let me know in the comments if you can find one, thanks.

Boubacar Cissoko - We all will have to learn how to say this guys name because he is going to be a stud. At the All-Army game he impressed a lot of coaches and should get sometime as a freshmen. Click Here

Dann O'Neil - You say your worried that Jake Long is gone? Well don't. Standing at 6'8 and weighing 291 I think he will do just fine. Click here to see this beast in acition

Brandon Smith - This guy also had a great showing at the All-Army game. He is a pure athelete and if Pryor doens't end up coming this guy could get a look. Click here for video. They talk about him at about 1:35 into it.

For those of you who want to see more videos click here and go to takkle.com. It is better for getting videos rather than paying at rivals.com. Just type in the player you want to see and you should get some results use the list (link provided below) at rivals to get the players you want to see, just a little tip.

These are just a few of the recruits that I think could make a big impact at Michigan. For a complete list you can click here. It will take you to rivals.com but they don't give you to much and want you pay for everything.

Oh your an MSU fan? Click here and scroll to Michian State in the commitment list box, sorry it wouldn't copy right sparty. There it will give you a list of their recruiting class.

Freaking Sam McGuffie!!

Above you will see why people are excited in Ann Arbor about McGuffie. In the video McGuffie does a front flip over a 6'4 football player. You gotta see it to believe it.

Stay Classy Morgantown

Never knew Brady Quinn went to WVU parties, who knew?
Anyways I came across a blog that had a few thoughts about WVU and how they are still sour about their Coach leaving, click here to check it out. I'm still amazed that this is even talked about, guess there isn't much to do in Morgantown these days.

Some Kind of Awesome

Here they are Detroit!! Not only are the Red Wings the hottest team in the NHL and on a record pace, we also have three starters on the All-Star team.

To me the most amazing thing about this team is that ever night somebody is able to step up and help this team to another victory. In last nights victory over the hated Avs the two players to step up were Datsyuk and Hasek.

Next game it could be Hudler, Osgood, Holmstrom Zetterberg, Lidstrom, etc.. I have never seen a team that has so many players that can do so much on both sides of the puck every night.

The one thing that worries me from past years experience is injuries and facing the hottest goaltender in the playoffs. It seems like ever year the wings always draw a goalie who has an out of body experience and sends the wings packing. Hopefully this year we our the team with the hot goalie(s) going into the playoffs and can finally say that this is the new era for the Red Wings with Zetterberg and Datsyuk. We will then be able to put Yzermen, Shanahan, and the other legends that have recently worn the winged wheel behind us to make way for the new legends that may someday have their numbers retired as a Wing.

Some amazing stats about the Red Wings this year:

Wings are averaging 34.3 shots per game

The Red Wings now have killed off their opponent's last 26 power plays over the past eight games.

Chris Osgood leads the NHL in GAA and save percentage, and he's our backup goalie!

Chelios is old and still playing.

Lidstrom leads the NHL in plus/minus at +34

The Red Wings are second in the NHL on the power play at 23.1 and fourth on the penalty kill at 86.5.

BREAKING NEWS: The Red Wings have resigned Chris Osgood for 3 years. Another great move by maybe the best GM in all of sports.

THE OHIO STATE CHOKEYES!!!

I hope to have this picture put on my tombstone when I die. I loved every minute of this game and love that a Michigan man still wanted to throw the ball and poor it on at the end.
I will post more on the game later, but just want to enjoy my day knowing that the chokeye fans are very sad today.

Millen does it again!!!

Well here we are after another horrible Lions season. The news of the day for the Lions is that the Mike Martz has been fired by the Lions, yeah he was the reason for the pussycats to lie down this season??? It never fails that Matt Millen finds a way to deflect his horrible record as an NFL GM to a coach or a player (Joey Harrington, Rogers, Williams, just to name a few).

Another interesting fact about the Lions coaching staff is the hire of Mr. Marinelli's son-in-law, Joe Berry before the start of the season. Man is this guy a great coach!!! He was able, as D-line coach, to help our defense to the rank as the leagues worst, man what a coaching tradition we have! If your going to can Martz who has accomplished success in the NFL, then why aren't they looking at Mr. Berry? Oh you don't want Christmas dinner to be uncomfortable for the family I guess? The Lions still continue to frusturate every loyal fan they have.

Day in and day out I come across at least a few articles about the lions and always see the shots that many people take at the fanbase we have for supporting our hometown team. What you don't think I know the Lions will and do suck?? I know what they are and I know the record of the great owner William Clay Ford Jr.. What am I supposed to do? Jump to another team and go against what I believe is a fan should be about? I never did that with the Red Wings, Tigers, or Pistons throughout my life! The big difference is that those teams have been setup by great owners - Bill Davidson & Mike Illitch. I know this is all old hat to many Detroit fans and it is pathetic to say the least.

Until either Matt Millen is let go or Mr. Ford has past away (please forgive me), I don't see any bright light at the end of the tunnel for the cats. I feel bad for the older Lions fan who has stuck with the team through so many years and has been ridiculed by many people throughout their life for sticking with their team. Only time will tell whether I become one of those fans. I have seen championships for the three other teams in my lifetime, but I know that if the Lions were ever able to bring a Lombardi trophy to Detroit it would be the greatest one of all.
